The CT Tech performs a variety of duties in preparing patients for CT imaging studies, from neonates to geriatrics. This individual will operate CT scanner and computer to produce images of specific areas to aid in diagnosis and treatment. The Tech will deal directly with Radiologists or Cardiologists regarding CT scan protocols and sequences. Responsibilities include providing patient instructions and injecting IV contrast for organ enhancement under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Additional duties may be assigned.
Documented training and experience in CT, including operation of CT equipment, radiation physics, and protection, are required. Candidates from outside the hospital must have at least one year of CT scan experience. Candidates should have the willingness and aptitude to process computer-assisted images and learn cross-sectional anatomy. Passing an advanced CT certification exam is recommended but not mandatory.
Valid and active ARRT registered Radiography (R) and/or Computed Tomography (CT) certification and/or NMTCB Registered (CNMT). AHA BLS certification is required.
