Qualifications

  • Certification in Radiography (R), Radiation Therapy (T), or Nuclear Medicine Technology (N) is required.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a CT technologist for Level II.

The smallest of Duke Health’s four hospitals at 123-beds, it offers a comprehensive range of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care, cardiology, orthopedics, women's services, and surgical specialties.

Occ Summary

Perform a variety of specialized tasks involved i n the performance of CTscans.

Work Performed

Perform complex specialized tasks associated withthe operation of CTscanners, p ower injectors, and related equipment in accordance withprescribed radia tion safety procedures. Position patients for CT scansusing patient posi tioning devices and protective equipment as necessary.Perform exams accu rately per established protocols, policy, and patientsafety standards.Assist radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injectingco ntrast, if applicable.Assist radiologist with interventional CT procedur es.Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images ins equence of exposure and appropriately label. Film/transmit to ImageArchi val System.Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functi ons.Charge procedures and supplies in EHR.Dispense and or order oral con trast to patients for CT scans.Maintain accurate patient records.Provide orientation and training to new CT technologists.Provide carefor the p sychological and physical needs of patients andtheir families for CT sca ns.Provide education and training to student technologists.Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.Coordinate scheduling and patient flowDemonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast admini stration.Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in performance of all exam protocols.Assist with the education and training of new physicians (inte rns,residents, fellows, and attending's). If applicable.Assist radiologi sts and PhD's in developing new protocols and CT imagingtechniques that are unique to facility.Perform CT specific technical assistance with pro jects assigned bysupervisor including but not limited to: Team lead, R & D, protocoldevelopment, charge reconciliation and demonstration of equi pment.**DUHS offers career growth and enrichment within Imaging services .There is a clinical ladder program with various steps and opportunities ateach hospital within the health system.

Education
