Job summary

Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, North Carolina is seeking an experienced CT Technologist for PRN coverage to operate CT scanners, ensure patient safety, and support the radiology team.

You will position patients, perform exams per established protocols, and assist radiologists with interventional CT procedures. ARRT CT registration and BLS are required, with a minimum of two years CT experience strongly preferred.

• Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility for CT registry/certification.
• Minimum of two years of Computed Tomography (CT) experience.
• ARRT registered in Computed Tomography (CT).
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate CT scanners and power injectors following radiation safety procedures.
• Position patients for CT scans with appropriate devices and protective equipment.
• Perform exams accurately per established protocols and patient safety standards.
• Assist radiologist with interventional CT procedures.
• Evaluate scans for technical quality and label/ transmit images.
• Coordinate scheduling and patient flow, provide orientation to new staff.

CT Technologist (PRN)

Location:Duke Regional Hospital

Work Schedule:PRN, as needed with a minimum of four shifts per month

Duke University Health System seeks to hire an experienced CT Technologist who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together. The Duke Regional Hospital (DRH) has 388 inpatient beds and offers a comprehensive range of medical, surgical, and diagnostic services. In this role there are three scanners and three rooms that primarily work to serve our outpatients, ED, and inpatients.

What you will do:

Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.

Position patients for CT scans using patient positioning devices and protective equipment as necessary.

Perform exams accurately per established protocols, policy, and patient safety standards.

Assist radiologist with interventional CT procedures.

Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label. Film/transmit to Image Archival System.

Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.

Dispense and or order oral contrast to patients for CT scans.

Provide orientation and training to new CT technologists.

Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families for CT scans.

Provide education and training to student technologists.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.

Coordinate scheduling and patient flow

Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast administration.

Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in performance of all exam protocols.

Perform CT specific technical assistance with projects assigned by supervisor including but not limited to: Team lead, R & D, protocol development, charge reconciliation and demonstration of equipment.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.

Experience:

Minimum of two (2) years of Computed Tomography (CT) experience strongly preferred.

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification

ARRT registered in Computed Tomography (CT).

BLS certification.
