Job summary

Banner Health is recruiting for a Radiologic Technologist through Banner Staffing Services-AZ in Mesa/Glendale, AZ. The role requires ARRT certification and state licensure (AZ/WY/NV) with CT certification within 18 months. Assignment-based positions may involve a Saturday 7:00–5:30 shift at the Paseo 2 location.

The position emphasizes high-quality imaging, patient education, safety, and teamwork in a busy imaging department under Banner Health.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate effective communication skills and human relations abilities.
  • Two years of clinical radiology experience preferred (as per minimum quals).
  • National certification requirements: ARRT Radiography or NMTCB CNMT, plus state licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Perform procedures by following provider orders and policies.
  • Educate patients/families about procedures and treatments.
  • Produce high-quality images and maintain documentation.
  • Ensure safety and maintain equipment performance; troubleshoot as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical responsibilities in radiology practice.
  • Coordinate workflow and inventory to prevent service interruptions.
  • Operate within the department and interact with multidisciplinary teams.

Schedule – This is a shift for every other Saturday at our Paseo 2 location 7-5:30. 10 hour shift. Average 2 shifts per month.

Position Summary

This position performs prescribed procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient population.

Core Functions
  1. Performs procedures by following and verifying referring provider's orders. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.
  2. Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Demonstrates professional behavior/conduct in all interactions; fosters teamwork, efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes.
  3. Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation.
  4. Demonstrates competence in performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures if applicable in accordance with established policies if applicable.
  5. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to safety policies.
  6. Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to the radiology practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information.
  7. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.
  8. Independently performs prescribed procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures and protocols to patients. Internal customers: All levels of medical imaging and nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients and family members.

Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Provides all customers of Banner Health with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leader behaviors each and every day.

Physical Demands/Environment Factors

DP - Typical Direct Patient Care environment: (Nutrition Rep, Chaplain, RN)

Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently.

Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs.

Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision.

Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects.

Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair.

May be required to lift up to 75 pounds.

Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids.

Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.

May require periodic use of personal computer.

Minimum Qualifications

Certificate or diploma from an approved/accredited Radiologic Technology program.

National Certification required from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT(R) or ARRT(NM)) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB (CNMT)).

State Licensure required for AZ, WY, NV; includes Radiography or Nuclear Medicine and CT license prior to hire (not required in Colorado).

Advanced Certification in Computed Tomography required within 18 months of hire from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT(CT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board – NMTCB (CT).

Certification for BLS is required.

This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with two years of experience. Must demonstrate effective communication skills, human relations skills, analyze data and solve problems.
