General Summary

Up to $7,500 Sign-on Bonus

Part Time Benefit Eligible

Shift: PT 24 hours per week, afternoon shift 11am-11:30pm with weekend and holiday rotation

Responsible for performing all CT procedures without requiring constant supervision. Can exercise independent judgment and initiative to produce high quality diagnostic images, using proper positioning technique and radiation safety practices (ALARA). The Technologist must have the ability to set up and monitor the operations of computerized tomography equipment such as the computer, optical disc unit, gantry, power injector, and use laser images to produce hard copy images (when needed). Must have an understanding of protocols and procedures used in CT scanning. Work directly with patients, physicians, and fellow associates. Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide care to the age group(s) served.

Responsibilities

1. Perform computed tomography procedures.
2. Collaborate with patients' clinical history with the procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for the Radiologist. Prepare patients for procedures; provide instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and help minimize anxiety. Operate computed tomographic equipment and accessories (perform tube warm-ups and calibrations daily).
3. Select appropriate program for the desired protocol.
4. Position patient to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patients' ability and comfort.
5. Immobilize patient as required for appropriate examination.
6. Apply principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
7. Assume responsibility for the physical and psychological needs of the patient during procedures.
8. Assist the Radiologist/Physician during interventional CT procedures, and assume aseptic surgical techniques.
9. Understand methods and capable of performing venipuncture (using aseptic techniques).
10. Prepare, identify, and/or administer contrast media as per institutional policies.
11. Evaluate images for technical quality, manipulate display parameters, and have knowledge of Retrospective Reformations, Post Processing Reformations, and FMPRs (provide hardcopy films when necessary).
12. Maintain archival storage of digitized data as appropriate.
13. Initiate basic life support actions when necessary.
14. Provide patient education.
15. Assist in maintaining patient records, respecting confidentiality and institutional policies.
16. Take responsibility for the assigned area and report equipment malfunctions.
17. Provide practical instruction for students.
18. Possibly control inventory and purchase of supplies for the area.
19. Maintain knowledge of and observe Universal precautions.
20. Apply patient relation skills effectively.
21. Perform routine cleaning of all CT equipment.
22. Pursue continuing education.
23. Positively identify patients using two identifiers.
24. Perform other duties within the scope of computerized tomography.

Essential Functions

Working Conditions

• Work in a patient care environment with exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous ionizing radiation.

Orientation Requirements

• Complete Genesys new hire orientation and department orientation.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Required

• Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology Program with 4-6 weeks of CT training.
• 1+ year experience in general Radiology, including 6-12 months working with CT scanners.

Certification/Licenses Required

• Certified BLS Provider in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association, obtained within 3 months of hire.
• ARRT Radiologic Technologist certification in Computed Tomography, obtained within 18 months of hire, including onsite training and passing the CT registry within 1 year.
