Location: 101 Hospital Dr, Columbus, NC 28722

The role you’ll contribute:

Under general supervision, your primary duties include imaging both neuro and body scans on patients from neonate to geriatric, following the age-specific guidelines of the facility's parameters, transmitting images for diagnostic interpretation, and keeping the hospital computer system up to date with the progress of these exams. You will actively participate in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining respectful relationships with all, while implementing the principles of the facility.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Perform all exams using established protocols. Use facility policy for proper identification of patients prior to performing exams. Educate patients concerning exams. Properly screen patients for any contrast allergies.
  • Complete all exams in a timely manner, keep workflow moving, and minimize empty table time. Follow through after completing exams with communication and transportation of patients.
  • Perform all types of imaging procedures and operate all equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, monitors, and other medical equipment. Demonstrate knowledge and skills to perform scans on patients of all ages, adapting protocols as necessary.
  • Properly screen patients of childbearing age and operate all imaging equipment in a safe manner, minimizing radiation exposure to patients, families, and co-workers. Practice infection control standards and utilize approved PPE and disinfectant agents. Maintain a properly stocked, organized, and clean room. Perform vendor-required QA on CT scanners. May include transporting pharmaceutical waste from the point of generation to a designated secure storage area. Complete initial training for handling pharmaceutical waste, including proper handling, transport, and disposal of PPE, if applicable.
  • Review all images of exams, repeating images as necessary for the best possible result. Notify physicians of emergent findings according to established protocol if necessary.
  • Use computer systems for ordering, changing, and canceling exams according to protocol. Confirm that orders match exams before pushing to PACS or correctly 'fix' exams on workstation or PACS.

The expertise and experience you’ll need to succeed:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Completion of radiologic technology training and A.R.R.T. registration
  • General radiographer state license as required by state, if applicable
  • Computed Tomography A.R.R.T. (CT) certification PREFERRED
