Job Summary

The CT Technologist I is responsible for operating CT equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and adherence to protocols. Responsibilities include preparing and positioning patients, maintaining equipment, collaborating with radiologists, and delivering accurate diagnostic results. Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and patient-centered care are essential.

Essential Functions
  • Operate CT equipment and processing systems to produce diagnostic images, following departmental standards.
  • Prepare and position patients for CT procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Verify patient identity, review physician orders, and screen for contraindications.
  • Explain procedures to patients and provide instructions during and after exams.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure accurate and timely care.
  • Review images for quality, present studies to radiologists, and communicate findings.
  • Perform quality control checks on CT equipment and report malfunctions.
  • Document patient history and correlate with imaging studies.
  • Follow safety protocols, including infection control and radiation safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and adhere to policies.
Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of clinical experience from an accredited radiologic sciences program required.
  • 2-4 years of CT experience in an acute care hospital preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in operating CT equipment.
  • Ability to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Skills in patient positioning and equipment maintenance.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of aseptic, surgical, and radiologic techniques.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist as required by state.
  • ARDMS or ARRT - Radiographer preferred.
  • CT certification or eligibility within six months of hire.
  • BCLS - within 90 days of hire.
