Job description

*NYC Health + Hospitals - Henry J Carter* is a state-of-the-art facility with a 5-Star CMS Quality Rating, equipped with a 164-bed Skilled Nursing Facility and a 201-bed Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) based in Harlem. Carter excels at providing quality medical, sub-acute, rehabilitative, and long-term specialty services for individuals in need of medically complex care like ventilator weaning. Position Overview:

This class of positions encompasses responsible clinical and administrative work of varying degrees of difficulty and responsibility involving day-to-day tasks of an operating segment of the Radiology department in the delivery of radiological services. Operates x-ray equipment, develops images, and prepares radiological areas, equipment, supplies, and contrast materials. There are four (4) Assignment Levels within this class of positions; all personnel perform related work.

Responsibilities:

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Review exam orders, consult with radiologist, schedule patients, and arrange for transportation as indicated.
  2. Identify patient and document all information pertinent to final report in the EMR, RIS, and PACS.
  3. Prepare all patients for radiological procedures requested by the clinician. Arrange for proper protection of patients, public, and staff from infectious diseases/materials.
  4. Oversee the work of ancillary staff.
  5. Perform difficult and highly specialized examinations in CT (Computed Tomography).
  6. Perform daily checks of CT imaging equipment, immobilization devices, and other necessary accessories. Review daily maintenance, quality assurance, and maintain documents and logs as required and mandated by the department and various regulatory agencies.
  7. Act as a Quality Assurance Technologist, perform imaging QA for radiography and CT as directed.
  8. Conduct inspections and checks equipment for defects and assure proper use of such equipment through instruction and review.
  9. On-Call responsibilities on rotational basis.
  10. Report any unexpected patient incidents in accordance with the occurrence report protocol.
  11. Maintain and exercise all mandated radiation safety regulations. Maintain basic care of all the CT imaging equipment. Report malfunctions to management and complete service request documentation.
  12. Maintain a clean and safe work environment for both patients and staff.
  13. Perform other duties as necessary in emergencies or disasters.
  14. Continue professional growth and development of job-related skills through ongoing education activities.
  15. Assist radiologist during radiographic procedures as required.
  16. Perform tasks of radiographer level 2.
  17. Perform all diagnostic radiology exams including CT.
  18. Ensure all examinations are accessioned, documented in RIS, and all images sent to PACS.
  19. Tour reassigned as necessary to provide proper workload coverage.
  20. Maintain a professional demeanor with patients, physicians, staff, and the public.
  21. Exercise due diligence to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
Requirements:

Assignment Level III

For Specialized Imaging Assignments: a valid license and current registration to practice Diagnostic Radiography as a Radiologic Technologist issued by the NYSDOH; and possession of a current advanced-level certification for the performance of these procedures.
