Job description

The Lead CT Technologist oversees the workflow in the CT Department and trouble shoots issues with patients and Radiologists. The technologist performs computed tomography and diagnostic scans of designated anatomical areas in accordance with established practices and procedures and obtains patient history, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns. They are responsible for maintaining patient record and files and will perform general CT procedures and assist with CT guided IVR procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversees administrative functions of staff in department
  • Supports and assists with training and orientation of new employees
  • Performs computed tomography and diagnostic scans demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
  • Performs procedures to ensure quality patient care in accordance with Radiologist’s expectations and protocols
  • Ensures compliance with the National Patient Safety goals
  • Supports and monitors reports identified as compliance matters

Other Functions:

  • Participates in hospital and department quality assurance programs to ensure safety and satisfaction
  • Maintains professional development and education for technical competency
  • Uses standard precautions, including PPE, at all times
  • Maintains regulatory compliance and licensure for current position
  • Attends all UofL Health required educational programs and completes all assigned KNOW modules
  • Contributes to the efficient operation and monitoring of the department and utilizes our resources efficiently
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology (required)

Experience:

  • One (1) year previous experience in CT (required)

Licensure:

  • Valid Kentucky Radiation Operator’s License (required)

Certification:

  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(required)
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Computed Tomography (CT) (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of hire (required)
