Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, PA seeks a CT Technologist to perform CT imaging with clinical judgment and uphold high image quality. You will follow physician specifications and ensure patient safety throughout the procedure.

Responsibilities include operating CT scanners, preparing patients, administering contrast per protocol, reviewing images, and sending exams to PACS for radiologist interpretation. ARRT CT certification and BLS are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited Radiography program or equivalent.
• Less than 1 year experience as Radiologic Technologist preferred.
• Knowledge of CT protocols and patient safety measures.

Responsibilities

• Perform CT scans with professional judgment and maintain image quality per physician specs.
• Prepare patients, obtain consent, and monitor for adverse reactions to contrast.
• Review images, document procedures, and transmit exams to PACS for radiologist review.

Summary

***Qualified candidates are eligible to receive a sign on bonus*** SummaryPerforms CT scans of designated anatomy using professional judgment while imaging with regard to technical quality according to physician specifications. Provides courteous and professional delivery of CT technical exams and procedures while adhering to radiation safety precautions. Supports patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding PHI and HIPPA related information.

Job Duties

Performs all types of imaging procedures and operates all equipment safely and properly including scanners, injectors, and monitors. Reviews all images of all exams, repeating images as necessary for best possible result. Communicates with the patient by addressing the patient by name, introducing self to the patient, explaining the exam in lay terms and keeping the patient Informed of exam progress. Prepares patient images to PACs for interpretation by a radiologist and administers contrast media per protocol. Completes technical notes, verifies images, and sends exams to PACS promptly. Notifies physician of any adverse reaction to contrast media or change in patient's condition. Reviews patient chart/script prior to initiating exam to verify pertinent information. Prepares patients for CT procedures by accurately assessing patient’s needs, medical history, and provides patient education. Operates computed tomography scanner for data acquisition, reconstruction of images, documentation of images, and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images. Attends department meetings or other mandatory meetings with a positive attitude. Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
