Job description

Job Description: CT Technologist

The CT technologist provides technical expertise to operate CT scanners, power injectors, and computer systems to acquire images for use by radiologists in diagnosis and treatment of pathologies.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Operating different CT systems across multiple locations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge.
  2. Following protocols based on ImageGently Guidelines and managing dose data to notify when preset levels are exceeded.
  3. Understanding clinical histories and major organ and vascular systems for thoracic, abdominal, pelvic, neuro, and musculoskeletal imaging.
  4. Obtaining CT images according to established protocols, ensuring proper patient preparation, positioning, immobilization, and use of protective shielding.
  5. Performing CT interventional procedures and advanced CTA imaging, including TAVR, EVAR, and cardiac imaging.
  6. Maintaining knowledge of pharmacology to ensure lab results are available prior to exams.
  7. Applying knowledge of physiology and physics to produce quality scans and reduce patient dose.
  8. Interpreting technical factors to optimize scan quality and speed.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The role requires adherence to organizational policies and procedures, with additional competencies outlined in department-specific orientations.
