Summary Description

Under general supervision, performs diagnostic CT exams using appropriate imaging equipment. Verifies patient identity, reviews medical records, and interviews patients to obtain or update medical history and assess risk factors. Explains procedures, sets up equipment, acquires images, reviews images, and communicates findings to radiologists. Recognizes and responds to medical emergencies, provides post-care instructions, and participates in quality improvement activities. May also perform duties of a Radiologic Technologist as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (R) or Computed Tomography (CT) preferred.
• Must have or complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support – Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by end of orientation.
• One or more years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology or advanced certification in CT.

Skills Required

• Analytical and clinical skills to determine the most appropriate radiographs based on patient ability and limitations.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills to instruct patients under stress and work with diverse hospital personnel.
• Technical knowledge to operate imaging equipment and computers.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a complex environment.
• Knowledge of American College of Radiology accreditation requirements.
• Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and patient positioning.
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity for producing diagnostic images.
