Job summary

Northside Hospital in Atlanta seeks a qualified CT Technologist to perform CT scans, manage contrast administration, and ensure patient safety while delivering high-quality imaging.

Responsibilities include operating CT equipment, selecting appropriate parameters, processing images for PACS, and coordinating with radiologists on stroke protocols. ARRT or NMTCB registration and BLS are required; prior CT experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT) registered.
• Graduate of an ARRT or NMTCB accredited school.
• Hold American Heart Association BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Collects medical information and reviews orders to identify exam indications and contraindications.
• Explain procedure to patient and obtain consent when required.
• Position patient and administer contrast as needed; monitor for adverse reactions and manage emergencies.
• Selects CT parameters and logs relevant data.
• Perform scanning and adjust parameters to optimize visualization.
• Organize images and transfer exams to PACS.
• Assist in patient transport to radiology-related areas and communicate with radiologists on Acute Stroke protocols.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Collects pertinent medical information and reviews physician's order to identify reason for examination and potential contraindications.
2. Explains procedure to patient and ensures consent form is signed if required for examination.
3. Positions patient and administers oral, rectal or intravenous contrast as required. Monitors patient reaction and responds to adverse reactions with emergency procedures as necessary.
4. Selects equipment parameters and logs pertinent information.
5. Performs scanning procedure. Modifies parameters as required to improve visualization of desired anatomy.
6. Organizes images, performs the scan and transfers exam to PACS system.
7. Aids with transportation of patients to and from Emergency Room and Inpatient areas.
8. Responsible for ensuring communication to radiologist regarding Acute Stroke patients and certifying compliance with Acute Stroke protocols.
9. Perform POC iSTAT testing and screen for contrast contraindications.

1. Enters patient charges into computer.
2. Monitors equipment for functionality and performance. Refers noted problems to the CT Supervisor.
3. Assists in orienting and training personnel as necessary.
4. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injuryaccident to Manager.

REQUIRED

1. Graduate of an ARRT or NMTCB accredited school
2. Registered CT Technologist with the ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT)
3. Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

PREFERRED

1. Prior training or experience in Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning.
