Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Socorro, NM seeks a skilled CT Technologist to join our radiology department. You will use clinical reasoning and teamwork to perform CT examinations, ensure patient safety, and deliver compassionate care in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree required and CT certification essential.
  • Current BLS required.
  • Certified CT Technologist with NMCT and ARRT(CT) or CT Technologist in Training/Provisional Status with NM Provisional license.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes clinical reasoning and evidence-based guidelines for CT radiograph imaging.
  • Advocates for patients and resolves ethical/clinical issues with escalation to leadership.
  • Creates a compassionate, therapeutic environment to comfort patients and staff.
  • Educates patients before scanning procedures and answers questions.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to optimize exam flow and resource use to avoid delays.
  • Performs safety reviews, verifies orders, and ensures correct patient/exam alignment per protocols.
  • Performs other clinic duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes clinical reasoning which includes a global grasp of situations, critical thinking, decision-making, critical actions, priority setting, and escalation of concerns with associated knowledge, skills, and evidence-based guidelines in managing computerized tomographic radiograph imaging.
  • Works on behalf of the patients/significant others in representing their concerns and helping resolve ethical and clinical issues that impact the patient's situation. Uses effective communication to elevate concerns to appropriate one up leader. Goes extra mile to attend to patient exam requests.
  • Creates a compassionate, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff with the aim of promoting comfort and healing and preventing unnecessary suffering or harm. Recognizes patient concern and reacts appropriately, including documentation of events.
  • Educates patient before scanning procedure explaining the procedure and answering patient questions.
  • Involves multidisciplinary team as well as patient/significant others to promote optimal and realistic goals and outcomes. Works with other departments to create an effective patient exam flow to include avoiding conflicting procedures and delay of patient care as well as effective utilization of limited technical and clinical resources.
  • Uses high standards and evidence-based practices along with questioning, research, and evaluation skills to provide informed and/or change practice. Properly assesses patient condition for the candidate for imaging. Performs necessary clinical and technical safety checks and screening processes, validates reasons for the exam with the patient before scanning, addresses all safety concerns before scanning, and performs red rules to ensure the right patient/right exam/right order. Understand the importance of performing necessary safety/calibration/quality checks per established protocols. Do not image patients without an order or without performing necessary safety, lab, and conflicting exam reviews.
  • Other clinic duties as assigned/where applicable.
Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree Required
  • Current BLS is required.
  • Certified CT Technologist
    • NM Computed Tomography License (NMCT)
    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Computed Tomography certification (ARRT(CT))
    • OR
  • CT Technologist in Training/Provisional Status
    • NM Computed Tomography Provisional License (NMPCT)
    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification (ARRT (R)). Must obtain ARRT(CT) and NMCT licensure within 2 years of obtaining the NMPCT.
    • Individuals applying for a New Mexico Provisional CT License must have met the requirements for licensure in at least one New Mexico-recognized medical imaging or radiation therapy discipline (e.g., Radiography, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation Therapy, or Registered Radiologist Assistant) and be pursuing an approved CT certification pathway.
