Job Summary:
Provide CT and Diagnostic X-ray imaging services to patients in accordance with physicians' orders. Ensure patient safety and deliver high-quality testing. Prepare rooms and equipment, perform testing, operate equipment according to prescribed safety standards, and process images. Exercise professional judgment and uphold medical ethics during diagnostic services. Apply knowledge of growth and development principles to identify patient and family requirements across age groups including geriatrics, adults, adolescents, and pediatrics. Maintain strict confidentiality for patients and staff. Adhere to sterile techniques. When assigned duties outside the outlined scope but within professional practice, relevant job descriptions will apply. Heavy lifting may be required.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Diagnostic Testing: Perform quality imaging using proper protocols and positioning to best demonstrate the anatomical area of interest, respecting patient comfort and ability. Demonstrate knowledge of cross-sectional imaging and produce images according to radiographic techniques. Evaluate images for technical quality and proper identification. Provide services to all age groups and offer patient education tailored to age-specific needs. Address patient concerns to facilitate cooperation and reduce anxiety. Verify procedures against physician orders and contact physicians with discrepancies. Understand contrast agents, prepare contrast media, and ensure proper documentation. Assist with procedures as needed.
- Customer Service: Deliver timely, responsive, and expert service to patients, physicians, and colleagues in a friendly manner. Communicate delays and their management. Promote patient-centered care. Provide comprehensive patient care including preparation, scheduling, explaining procedures, managing pain expectations, post-procedure instructions, and patient education. Maintain confidentiality and communicate results appropriately.
- Demonstrate compliance in IV access following departmental protocols. Respond rapidly and appropriately to contrast reactions as outlined in policies.
- General Behavior: Observe patients during procedures and report any changes. Arrive prepared for shifts, take breaks appropriately, and leave on time. Keep work areas neat and stocked. Identify training needs and contribute to policy development. Communicate concerns with leadership. Work effectively with team members, rotate shifts and assignments, and respond to call-backs as required. Follow safety policies including PPE, universal precautions, waste management, and OSHA guidelines.
- Information System: Accurately enter patient information into departmental systems. Select current patient accounts and complete procedures as directed in RIS.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum one year of direct cross-sectional anatomy experience.
- Minimum one year of recent diagnostic x-ray procedure experience.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Graduation from an accredited radiologic technology program.
License, Certification, Registration:
- Certified Radiologic Technologist (Washington)
- Basic Life Support certification at hire
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Computed Tomography at hire
Additional Requirements:
- Strong communication, problem-solving, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Intermediate computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of hospital setting experience.
