Atrium Health Steele Creek Emergency Department, a facility of Atrium Health Pineville, provides 24-hour emergency services to the Steele Creek area, including care for broken bones, severe cuts, heart attacks, and strokes. Our team includes board-certified emergency physicians, supported by Carolinas Medical Center, the region’s only Level I Trauma Center.

The CT Technologist I performs procedures following departmental protocols, operating CT scanners and related equipment proficiently, including contrast injectors, monitoring equipment, and patient transport tools.

Essential Functions

  • Verifies requests and orders, consulting with Radiologists as needed.
  • Identifies patients using two identifiers, explains procedures, and prepares patients accordingly.
  • Gathers medical history from EMRs and records pertinent data.
  • Manages the exam from start to finish, ensuring quality and accuracy.
  • Prepares and administers IV contrast per protocols, documenting details.
  • Evaluates image quality, recognizes abnormal anatomy, and collaborates with Radiologists.
  • Performs patient care functions, monitors patient condition, and initiates emergency procedures if necessary.
  • Assists during invasive procedures, maintaining sterile technique and safety standards.
  • Obtains medications or contrast materials as directed by licensed practitioners.
  • Follows radiation safety standards, reports equipment issues, and maintains safety protocols.
  • Works accurately during emergencies, rotates shifts, and adheres to attendance policies.
  • Uses radiology computer systems for documentation and billing.
  • Maintains a clean, organized work environment and assists other medical staff as needed.

Physical Requirements

Requires moderate to heavy lifting, standing, walking, and bending. May be exposed to physical hazards and radiation, requiring safety precautions.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

Graduate of an accredited two-year AMA program in Radiologic or Nuclear Medicine Technology. ARRT certification in Radiology or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine, with advanced CT registry from ARRT within one year of hire, plus current CPR certification.
