Job summary

Duke University Health System is seeking a CT Technologist for Ambulatory Imaging in the Cary area. The role supports three ambulatory imaging centers, performing CT scans for abdominal, breast, cardiac, musculoskeletal, and thoracic imaging across locations.

Float between sites to serve ambulatory surgical and primary care patients. Required ARRT registry, CT certification within 18 months, and 2+ years CT experience for Level II; 4+ years for advancement.

Qualifications

  • Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.
  • Level I: ARRT registered and able to obtain CT certification within 18 months of employment.
  • Level II: Minimum of two years' experience as a CT technologist.
  • Level III: A minimum of 4 years' experience within specialty modality in which they are seeking promotion.
  • Certification in Radiography (R), Radiation Therapy (T), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), CNMT.
  • Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) required within 18 months of employment.
  • BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CT scanners, power injectors and related equipment following radiation safety procedures.
  • Position patients for CT scans using positioning devices and protective equipment.
  • Perform exams accurately per established protocols and safety standards.
  • Assist radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IVs and injecting contrast.
  • Assist radiologists with interventional CT procedures.
  • Schedule patients for procedures and handle clerical tasks.
  • Charge procedures and supplies in the EMR/EHR.

CT Technologist - Ambulatory Imaging

Work Schedule: Full-Time, 1st Shift, Monday - Friday, 7:30AM - 4:00PM
***This position is eligible for a $15,000 commitment bonus and $3,000 in relocation assistance for those relocating from over 50-miles away***

Duke University Health System seeks to hire an experienced CT Technologist who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together. The Ambularoty Imaging position serves our three free standing Ambulatory Imaging centers where we provide abdominal imaging, breast imaging, cardiac imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, and thoracic imaging. We have one CT scanner and room at each location. This position will float in between all three locations to serve our Ambulatory Surgical and Primary Care patients.

What you will do:

  • Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.
  • Position patients for CT scans using patient positioning devices and protective equipment as necessary.
  • Perform exams accurately per established protocols, policy, and patient safety standards.
  • Assist radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable.
  • Assist radiologist with interventional CT procedures.
  • Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label. Film/transmit to Image Archival System.
  • Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.
  • Charge procedures and supplies in EHR.
  • Dispense and or order oral contrast to patients for CT scans.
  • Provide orientation and training to new CT technologists.
  • Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families for CT scans.
  • Provide education and training to student technologists.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.
  • Coordinate scheduling and patient flow
  • Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast administration.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in performance of all exam protocols.
  • Assist with the education and training of new physicians (interns, residents, fellows, and attending's). If applicable.
  • Assist radiologists and PhD's in developing new protocols and CT imaging techniques that are unique to facility.
  • Perform CT specific technical assistance with projects assigned by supervisor including but not limited to: Team lead, R & D, protocol development, charge reconciliation and demonstration of equipment.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.

Experience:

Level I

  • Must be ARRT registered and further able obtain CT certification within 18 months of employment.

Level II

  • Minimum of two years' experience as a CT technologist.

Level III

Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification:

  • Certification in one of the following required: Radiography (R), Radiation Therapy (T), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), CNMT.
