Job summary

Baptist Health Birmingham seeks a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic imaging procedures, including CT, ensuring image quality and patient safety. Role requires accreditation in Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology and BLS certification.

Credentials: ARRT (R) and CT or NMTCB (CT) within 12 months of hire; cross-training in CT is anticipated as part of the role. On-site patient care and imaging support are central responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Maintains current AHA BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • An ARRT certification (R) and CT, or NMTCB (CT) within 12 months of hire.

Position SummaryProvides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to radiation safety principles.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient's clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors.
  • Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for the purpose of contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reaction to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Assists in supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensures safety of all customers.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.
  • Other Related FunctionsMaintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
  • Maintains well-stocked and organized work areas.
  • Provides patient transport.
Qualifications
  • Education/TrainingGraduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology; or
  • Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Licensure/CertificationMaintains current AHA BLS/Healthcare Provider certification AND
  • Additionally, must meet one of the following criteria: Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification (R) and valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification (CT); or o Valid Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) in (CT) within twelve (12) months of hire
