Job summary

Conway Medical Center is seeking a CT Technologist to operate CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with radiation safety procedures. You will position patients, assist radiologists, inject contrast, and ensure image quality for PACS transmission.

Requirements include ARRT radiology registration, CT certification within 18 months, SCRQSA, and BLS. Hospital experience is preferred; strong teamwork and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CT Technologist path via AMA Radiologic Technology + CT program or equivalent CT training.
• ARRT Radiology registration required; CT certification needed within 18 months of employment.
• SCRQSA certification and BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and provide exemplary customer service.
• Position patients for CT scans using immobilization and protection.
• Assist radiologist with imaging and CT procedures.
• Start IVs and inject contrast as required.
• Submit CT images to PACS with proper labeling.
• Schedule procedures and manage patient records.
• Train new CT technologists and supportive staff.

Job description

The CT Technologist (CTT) will perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.

Qualifications:

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• CT Technologist through one of two ways required:
• Completion of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology plus completion of an accredited CT program or;
• Completion of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology plus on-the-job training in CT with 3 years of continued proven competence.

Experience

• Previous CT experience in a hospital setting strongly preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• Registered in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
• Registered in CT Technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. (or certified within 18 months of employment.
• Certified under the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) required.
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service.
• Responsible for positioning patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary.
• Assist radiologist with imaging procedures.
• Start IV's and injecting contrast.
• Assist radiologist with interventional CT procedures.
• Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label and transmit to PACS.
• Schedule patients for procedures.
• Assist with clerical functions and maintain accurate patient records.
• Provide orientation and training to new CT technologists and provides education and training to student technologists.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
• Work effectively and collaboratively with imaging colleagues, physicians, and department heads.
• Effectively utilize strong organizational skills.
• Consistently display effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required.
• Regularly exercise independent judgment.
