Job Description:

The CT Tech performs a variety of CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. This position uses ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgement to perform high quality scans.

Shift Details: Full-time (36 Hours), 3 12’s or 2 12’s & 2 8’s

As a CT Technologist at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by:

  1. Maintains ARRT competency in all clinical and technical functions of the job.
  2. Understands and operates CT equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure production of quality images.
  3. Ensures proper patient identification, order verification, and prepares the patient for the exam.
  4. Performs exams per department protocol.
  5. Reviews and evaluates images for quality, clarity, and accuracy, ensuring that all necessary anatomical structures are captured.
  6. Adheres to radiation safety guidelines and maintains a safe working environment for patients and staff.
  7. Follows appropriate protocol for medical necessity, coding and charging, obtaining necessary consents, maintaining applicable QC program and reporting any equipment failures or problems.
  8. As ordered by the physician and under radiologist or physician supervision administers contrast media to patients per protocol and provides education to patients regarding safety concerns inherent to contrast administration.

CT Tech Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Health Services/ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT (RT)(R) Upon Hire
  2. Health Services/BCLS - Basic Life Support within 60 Days
  3. Health Services/IV - IV Certification within 60 Days
  4. Relevant state licensure Upon Hire
  5. For caregivers hired in this role in the State of Colorado, a Fluoroscopy License is required Upon Hire
  6. (Where applicable) Must complete the controlled substance module within 30 Days
  7. (Where applicable) Must complete the initial moderate sedation module within 30 Days
  8. Specific facility-based certifications may also be required for this role. If this applies, each facility would define and manage compliance.

CT Tech Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 1-2 years of CT Experience
  2. Experience in a healthcare setting

Physical Requirements:

  1. Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  2. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  3. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
  4. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
  5. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
  6. May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
