Position Summary

Performs routine and some special procedure imaging. Prepares patients for procedures. Assists radiologists. Prepares, operates, and cares for the equipment being used. Processes images/CDs when needed. Adheres to established radiology standards of care. Applies principles of radiation protection, when appropriate, to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others. Assumes responsibility for assigned areas and duties. Adheres to hospital-wide customer service programs. Performs other duties as assigned, such as quality assurance. Performs diagnostic and some special procedure medical radiographic images utilizing CAT scan equipment. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include:

  • Assumes responsibilities for designated areas and/or procedures, producing good technical images, and reviewing completed exams for quality and completeness.
  • Assists physicians during procedures as necessary.
  • Performs equipment quality assurance and calibrations as needed, and communicates supply needs to senior staff.
  • Processes images or prints CDs as needed.
  • Performs routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/films, and documenting information in EPIC, hospital RIS, and PACs systems.
  • Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to floors.
  • Provides care and meets the physical and psychosocial needs of various patient populations, including neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adults, and geriatric groups.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited allied health education or radiography program.
  • NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required.
  • ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph (R) and/or (CT) certified, and documented training/experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection.
  • Passing advanced CT examination/certification within 1 year of hire.
  • DOH IV certification preferred or obtained during a 6-month orientation.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association required or completed within 90 days of hire.
  • Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology, performed during orientation and before end of probation.
