Position overview

The CT Technologist is responsible for performing and reformatting CT examinations that create images needed for diagnosis and the performance of interventional and therapeutic procedures. This includes creating a tranquil environment so patients can adhere to examination instructions.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper file identification on all images
  • Demonstrate competency performing all computerized tomography procedures and operate related equipment
  • Greet patients, obtain history, and enter information in computer system
  • Scan according to guidelines
  • Observe patient vital signs during examination
  • Provide instruction/mentoring to new hires
  • Maintain CPR certification
  • Perform procedures in compliance with Standards of Care, facility and regulatory requirements, and ARRT Standards of Ethics
  • Maintain quality standards related to HIPAA regulations
  • Assist in the accreditation process for American College of Radiology (ACR) every three years
  • Demonstrate a positive patient experience and provide information about the procedure and follow-up steps
  • Demonstrate a positive experience from referring providers and deliver high-quality results
  • Submit images of diagnostic quality without need for additional image acquisition; perform quality assurance on images and equipment
  • Make decisions thoughtfully after considering various courses of action
  • Contribute to efficient outpatient operations and maximize modality productivity
  • Observe patient vital signs during examination
  • Utilize sterile techniques to prevent contamination
  • Review examinations for technical accuracy and communicate pertinent data to care teams
  • Demonstrate teamwork and foster a positive, collaborative work environment
  • Meet or exceed deadlines, follow through, and demonstrate adaptability
  • Enhance professional growth and maintain certifications through education programs, conferences, and workshops
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ARRT CT certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or Baccalaureate degree in radiography, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine
  • 2+ years of CT experience
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and employees
  • Ability to use or learn the department’s computerized system and devices
Physical Demands
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Lift and carry items up to 50 pounds
  • Assist patients up to 300 pounds and position for equipment operation
  • Eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review images

The hourly range for this role is $28.61 to $56.06 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on factors including local labor markets, education, experience, and certifications. UnitedHealth Group provides comprehensive benefits and incentives where eligible.
