Job description

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING
GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, specializes in performing computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Performs related duties as required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination.
  2. Reviews clinical data on requisition, performs appropriate examinations, and obtains additional medical history as necessary. Prepares the procedure room and replenishes stock such as linens and supplies.
  3. Analyzes the anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan.
  4. Manually controls the equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
  5. Administers intravenous contrast media, including the use of power injectors.
  6. Assists radiologists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.
  7. Performs imaging procedures following radiation protection principles, including shielding, appropriate equipment settings, and ALARA techniques.
  8. Resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS, including viewing and confirming image/series counts.
  9. Completes all study indexing in RIS, including start, end, and completion of studies.
  10. Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with radiologists before performing studies.
  11. Demonstrates team standards of excellence, including AIDET, open communication, responsiveness, positivity, innovation, and respect for diversity.
  12. Documents all procedures in the medical record and radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and either certified in Computed Tomography (CT) or eligible to be certified. If eligible, certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Maintain required continuing education hours.
  • Healthcare Provider certification (BCLS) required.
