Job description

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING
GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, specializes in performing computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients. May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations. Performs related duties as required.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination.
  2. Reviews clinical data on requisitions, performs appropriate examinations, and obtains additional patient medical history as necessary. Prepares the procedure room and replenishes supplies such as linens.
  3. Analyzes the anatomical structure of the patient, sets up equipment, and performs the CT scan.
  4. Manually controls the equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
  5. Administers intravenous contrast media, including the use of power injectors.
  6. Assists Radiologists in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.
  7. Performs imaging procedures following radiation protection principles, including shielding and dose reduction techniques.
  8. Resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS, including viewing and confirming image counts.
  9. Completes all study indexing and documentation within RIS and PACS systems.
  10. Reviews clinical protocols with Radiologists before performing studies, demonstrating team standards such as AIDET, open communication, and respect for diversity.
  11. Documents all procedures accurately in the medical record and radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and either certified in Computed Tomography (CT) or eligible to be certified. If eligible, certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Maintain required continued education hours.
  • Healthcare Provider certification (BCLS) required.
