General Summary of Position MedStar Health is looking fora part-timeCT (Computed Tomography)Technologisttojoinourteamat Washington Hospital Center! Schedule:Weekends 7:00am-7:00pm AsaCT Technologist,you willoperatediagnostic equipment to produce computerized axial tomographic scan (CT) images of internal organs for use by professional personnel. Explains process to patients and interviews for medical history. Instructs andassistspatients in assuming positions for proper scan, and administers contrast media (I.V., oral, rectal and P.O.) according to protocols. Reviews patient records for orders, exam history, lab work, and allergies, and positions patients on the scan table. Establishes I.V. site for contrast infusion and administers oral, rectal and I.V. contrasts. Consults with Radiologist prior to administering I.V. contrast for bolus I.V. injections. Monitors patients during injection for evidence of contrast reaction. Enters patient and exam data into x-ray computer system and performs computed scan images. Prepares reports andmaintainsrecords of servicerendered, using the radiology department computer system to verify billing and quality assurance. Completes incident reports and anesthesia records when necessary. Reports all technical problems to the supervisor or senior technologist. Assists Radiologist with interventional procedures such as biopsies and drainages. Informs Radiologist of scan results when anomalies or abnormalities are visible. Schedules patient exams and revises daily schedules to accommodate emergency exams fromMedSTAR, ER, and other units. Cleans andmaintainsan aseptic working environment for each patient. Films CT scan images andarchiveexams onto tape or optical disk. Ensures adequate supplies are available andis responsible forreplenishing supply levels. Assistsin the training and orientation of new employees and students. Completes all required information system functions to assure proper patient information, billing, exam, and other necessary functions are correctly entered andmaintained. Qualifications: Associatedegree or one to three years formal training in Radiologic Technology. Completed competency-based training in CT. 1-2 years job related experience. ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology)registration. Basic Life Support (BLS).
