$20,000.00 SIGN-ON BONUS ELIGIBLE

Job Summary/Overall Objectives

The CT Technologist performs the computed tomography examination to produce images of various anatomical parts and systems for diagnostic purposes as directed by the radiologist.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Collects pertinent data about the patient and procedure.
  2. Reconfirms the patient's identification and verifies the physician's order.
  3. Assures that the proper screening protocol is completed prior to patient entering the scan room.
  4. Verifies the patient's pregnancy status when appropriate.
  5. Provides information to the patient about the procedure.
  6. Verifies the patient has consented to the procedure and answers any questions.
  7. Provides accurate explanations and instructions at an appropriate time and at a level the patient can understand.
  8. Analyzes the information during the assessment phase and determines optimal imaging parameters per diagnosis.
  9. Determines whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for procedure.
  10. Assesses factors that may contraindicate procedure such as medications or insufficient patient preparation.
  11. Selects appropriate shielding and immobilization devices.
  12. Reviews the patient's chart/physician order to determine optimal scanning parameters for suspected pathology.
  13. Administers contrast agents according to established guidelines.
  14. Obtains written consent prior to IV/oral contrast administration.
  15. Evaluates lab values prior to administering contrast agents.
  16. Determines appropriate type and dose of contrast agent to be administered.
  17. Completes oral contrast screening form when needed.
  18. Monitors patient during exam for adverse reaction to contrast media.
  19. Using sterile techniques, preps site and starts IV when applicable.
  20. Obtains optimum images during scan.
  21. Reformats images as needed to better visualize anatomy or pathology according to established guidelines.
  22. Sends images to PACS for interpretation by radiologist.
  23. Archives images to CD or data storage device as needed.
  24. Documents information about patient care, exam, and patient history in appropriate record.
  25. Verifies correct order is entered into RIS.
  26. Documents appropriate patient history into PACS system.
  27. Documents any exceptions from the established guidelines.
  28. Scans appropriate documents into PACS system.
  29. Completes medication reconciliation documentation per department policy.
  30. Facilitates correspondence with all departments to ensure procedures are done in a timely manner.
  31. Works with Centralized Scheduling, nursing units, and ER to accommodate STAT or ASAP orders.
  32. Responds to emergency calls per department procedures.
  33. Maintains equipment workstation in optimum condition.
  34. Performs daily QC on CT equipment.
  35. Assures adequate patient care and office supplies are maintained.
  36. Reports equipment malfunction to service provider.
  37. Implements downtime procedures when necessary.
  38. Coordinates rescheduling of patients during equipment downtime.
  39. Initiates established downtime procedures during HIS/RIS and PACS downtime.
  40. Performs daily glucometer QC.
  41. Performs glucometer procedure on patients.
  42. Maintains annual glucometer competency.
  43. Other duties as assigned.
Competency and Experience (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Required Qualifications/Experience
  1. Completion of a (JRCERT) accredited Radiologic Technology recognized by ARRT.
  2. Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment.
  3. Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
  1. Six (6) months experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
License, Certification & Clearances
  1. Current Registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  2. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program.
  3. Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system.
  4. Act 33 with renewal.
  5. Act 73 FBI.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.). Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
