The CT Technologist role is a key step in the career ladder. Final candidates will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary based on experience and certification.

Performs imaging procedures at a technical level without requiring constant supervision. Executes a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.

Responsibilities:

• Performs computed tomography procedures utilizing established scan protocols, including contrast administration without requiring constant supervision.
• Utilizes complex imaging equipment for acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data, completing procedures according to protocol.
• Ensures all exams are properly coded and tracked through RIS, networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation, and all charges are accurately entered.
• Administers PO, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders/department policy and assesses patients for potential risks prior to contrast media administration.
• Communicates instructions clearly to patients, explains procedures, and helps allay fears to ensure cooperation.
• Adjusts protocols independently and applies ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT purposes.
• Interacts professionally with patients and staff, demonstrating care, listening, dignity, and respect. Works effectively as part of the team.
• Properly identifies patients using two identifiers, reviews history, assesses orders, and documents appropriately.
• Demonstrates proper venipuncture technique and correct use of power injectors per protocols.

Qualifications include:

• Graduate of an ARRT-approved Radiologic Technology school or accredited CNMT program.
• ARRT certification as a Radiologic Technologist or CNMT certification.
• Within 12 months of hire, obtain CT Board Certification.
• CPR/BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Additional certifications and clearances required include:

• ARRT or NMTC certification
• BLS or CPR
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting (renewal required)
• Act 33 (renewal required)
• Act 34 (renewal required)
• Act 73 FBI Clearance (renewal required)
