Qualifications

Job description

Job Title: CAT Scan Technician (CT Tech)

Pay Rate: $63-$67 Per Hour

Location: Pompton Plains, NJ

Schedule: Days; 13 Weeks; 40/hr. (08*5) 11a-7p M-F / No call, No weekends.

Job Duties:

1. The CT technologist will demonstrate professionalism and service excellence when performing the following tasks.
2. Obtains necessary medical, surgical, and radiological supplies for specific procedures according to established protocols.
3. Maintains sterility of field and instruments.
4. Correctly prepares requisitions.
5. Communicate with the patient and family before, during, and after the procedure to alleviate anxiety while maintaining the patient's privacy and dignity.
6. The technologist will adhere to all HIPAA regulations and respect the patient's privacy.
7. Verifies patient identification according to the AHS policy.
8. Observe the patient’s condition before and after contrast injections and report any sudden change to the nursing staff and Radiologist.
9. Ensures availability of medical records, previous reports, labs, and history of the patient.
10. Can begin emergency response in case of complication.
11. Maintains adequate linen supplies in each scanning room.
12. Maintains adequate contrast media and biopsy/drainage supplies in each scanning room.
13. Adheres to room assignments (CT 1, 2, and 3).
14. Assists in maintaining CT storeroom and outside inventory.
15. Participates in daily inventory and stocking of supplies.
16. Notifies Lead of expired or soon-to-expire equipment or medications.
17. Cleans and inventories supplies.
18. Participates in the routine cleaning of the CT gantry, table, and peripheral equipment after each use.
19. The point staff will perform the following tasks while displaying involvement in patient care, professionalism, and respect for other staff and patients: When assigned as Point, triages procedures according to the daily schedule.
20. Ensures timely coordination of all emergency and unscheduled procedure requests.
21. Assign staff to ensure efficient workflow while maintaining an environment of patient safety.
22. Maintains workflow within the section to coordinate emergent and unscheduled procedure requests within the schedule.
23. Communicate with all departments and floors regarding patient status.
24. Ensures immediate patient transport post-procedure.
25. Assists in performing routine procedures.
26. Assesses the patient's ability to tolerate contrast.
27. Screens for allergies/medication incompatibilities.
28. Cleans CT Unit and room after each use.
29. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the working area.
30. Notifies the Coordinator or Lead of equipment malfunctions.
31. Maintains QA/QC requirements for daily, monthly & ACR specifications.
32. Recognizes unusual conditions in equipment operation.
33. Alerts appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions.
34. Adheres to venipuncture and power injector protocols.
35. When doing cases that require immediate results such as Code Grey, Trauma, and Partial Trauma the images will be acquired, processed, sent, and verified/completed in the PACS/RIS system per established protocol (Immediately after acquisition for Code Grey).
36. The CT technologist will notify the radiologist as Code Grey images are being sent and follow with any processed data afterward.
37. All staff should notify the radiologist of ANY unusual finding to provide the optimum care for the patient.

• Completion of a Radiographer Technical training program from a School of Radiography or College Radiography program
