Job summary

Southcoast Health is seeking a talented CT Technologist for per diem shifts at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. The role involves performing CT exams, educating patients, and working within an interdisciplinary care team.

Qualified candidates will have an accredited Radiologic Technology program, ARRT CT certification, MA/RI licensure, BLS, and ARRT/NMTCB registration. Per diem status; compensation based on experience.

Qualifications

• ACCREDITED program in Radiologic Technology or related field; primary certification within 1 year; post-primary CT certification.
• Post-primary certification in CT within 1 year of eligibility and/or MA/RI licensure.
• Current RT licensure in MA and/or RI based on location.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
• ARRT or NMTCB certification is required.
• Fully vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19 or eligible for exemption with signed statement.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform diversified clinical patient care and imaging duties within the assigned modality as part of a care team.
• Assess patients, correlate findings with exam requests, and document data in the EHR.
• Educate patients for exams and position patients with appropriate imaging equipment and supplies.
• Identify, prepare, and/or administer pharmaceuticals related to the exam/procedure.
• Select technical factors to produce quality images and evaluate image quality.
• Apply ALARA principles to minimize exposure and ensure MR safety awareness.
• Assist physicians in procedures and maintain per diem requirements.

Shift: Day/Evening shift with weekend, holiday and on call rotation

Under the general supervision and direction of the Manager, Radiology Clinical Services or designee, perform diversified clinical patient care, technical and related duties within assigned modality as part of an interdisciplinary care team. Responsible for each assigned patient, perform patient assessments, and correlate clinical findings with exam/procedure request. Obtain pertinent information from patient's chart and document all data within the EHR. Educate patient for exam. Position patient and select appropriate imaging equipment and supplies. Identify, prepare and/or administer pharmaceuticals related to the exam/procedure. Select technical factors/ parameters/sequences to produce quality images. Properly identify anatomy and evaluate images for technical quality. Apply the principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others and aware of MR safety practices. Assist physicians in performing procedures. Maintain the committed Per Diem requirements.

• Successful completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiation Therapy and attainment of primary certification within one year of eligibility and post-primary certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Computed Tomography, RT(CT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board NMTCB(CT).
• Post-primary certification in the advanced practice discipline of CT is required for RT's or CNMT's within one year of eligibility and/or per RT licensure in MA or RI.
• Current RT licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island is required based on location assignment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required.
• Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) is required.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
