Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a CT Technologist to perform CT exams for all patient ages under supervision. You will select protocols, prepare contrast media, and document results in HIS/RIS/PACS, while maintaining equipment and safety standards.

Required ARRT radiology certification and MA RTR license; CT sub-specialty within 1 year; BLS, and ongoing CEUs. Full-time, on-site position with signing bonus potential discussed. Equal opportunity employer.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and administer IV/oral contrast as ordered; document work in HIS/RIS/PACS.
  • Check equipment; perform daily QA; maintain cleanliness and supply stocks.
  • Stay up to date with CT/radiologic technology developments through training or professional involvement.
  • Assist in other modalities as needed.
  • Comply with policies; attend meetings; contribute to quality improvement; ensure safety.

Under general supervision of the Director or Diagnostic Imaging, the CT Tech is responsible for scanning and producing a variety of computerized tomography examinations for physician interpretation and diagnosis of injury and/or disease for all patient ages.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Obtain and record appropriate patient clinical information and/or history; verify physician orders and review relevant laboratory test results. Make a psychological and physical assessment of each patient, and adjust standard imaging procedures and techniques to accommodate patient size, age, or condition according to protocol.
  2. Assist, transfer, and position patients as needed, ensuring modesty and physical safety. Select and/or input appropriate protocol at Radiologist discretion for given patient symptoms, and monitor computer function during the examination.
  3. Prepare oral and intravenous contrast media for administration to patients as ordered, administer and/or inject sufficient IV and/or oral contrast to produce quality images, process images, and accurately document work in the HIS/RIS/PACS systems.
  4. Check operation of equipment; ensure daily phantom Q.A. is completed. Maintain cleanliness of tables and equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases, and keep rooms well stocked with linen and necessary supplies.
  5. Keep up to date with changes in the field of computed tomography and/or radiologic technology through in‑service study, attending courses or seminars, or participating in professional organizations.
  6. Assist in other modalities as needed.

Position Qualifications
License/Certification/Education
  1. ARRT certification in Radiology is required.
  2. RTR licensure in Commonwealth Massachusetts is required.
  3. CT modality requires a Sub‑specialty (CT) certification within 1 year of employment.
  4. BLS certification is required.
  5. Maintain all area‑specific CEUs for ARRT, DPH according to regulation.
Experience/Skills

Required:

  1. Level of knowledge equivalent to that acquired through completion of an Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology.

Preferred:

  1. Experience in CT.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Hiring Range: $26.95 – $61.79. The final offer may vary within this range based on a candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.
