Job summary

DeKalb Health in Little Rock, AR is seeking a CT Technologist to perform CT procedures to assist in disease diagnosis. This safety-sensitive position requires alertness and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities include reviewing PACS images, identifying abnormalities, assisting radiologists, positioning patients, acquiring diagnostic CT images, and ensuring patient comfort and safety through sterile technique and proper information transfer.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and graduation from an accredited Radiography school.
  • ARRT CT registration or registry eligible.
  • Current Radiologic Technology License (RTL) in good standing.
  • BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Review images in the PACS system.
  • Be able to identify abnormalities.
  • Assist the Radiologist in the interpretation of patient exams.
  • Performs CT procedures as prescribed by a physician including positioning the patients for the proper view of the affected area; selects the appropriate scan images to be transferred to a PACS system.
  • Obtains essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans for clinical correlation; instructs patients about the proper physiological requirements for the procedure; helps patients transfer to CT exam table and ensures adequate patient immobilization to perform the scan; knows how to change scanning parameters to improve a scan; obtains diagnostic CT images by scanning the appropriate body part of the patient; submits diagnostic CT exam to a physician for interpretation.
  • Assists in performing life-saving techniques (CPR, first aid) to the patient if necessary.
  • Practices sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination. Handles blood and body fluids and deals with infectious patients.
  • Performs patient care tasks as needed.
  • Requests charts and film folder from the online computer program

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing CT procedures to assist in disease diagnosis.


This position is a Safety Sensitive Position. The essential functions, physical demands, and mental competencies of this job require the employee maintain the ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner.



  • Review images in the PACS system.

  • Be able to identify abnormalities.

  • Be able to assist the Radiologist in the interpretation of patient exams.

  • Performs CT procedures as prescribed by a physician including positioning the patients for the proper view of the affected area; selects the appropriate scan images to be transferred to a PACS system.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE and REGISTRATION:


  • High school diploma; graduation from an accredited Radiography school.

  • ARRT (CT) registered; or registry eligible

  • Current Radiologic Technology License (RTL) in good standing.

  • BLS certification


EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:


  • Minimum one year of experience and/or training with graduate CT

  • Skilled in injecting contrast intravenously for imaging procedures.

  • Skilled in using computer network system competently to process patient and department information.

  • Knowledgeable and skilled in assuming responsibility for safety factors.

  • Ability to explain procedures clearly and simply to patients.
