Job summary

UNC Health in Eden, NC is seeking a CT Technologist to operate CT equipment, acquire diagnostic images, and ensure patient safety and comfort while delivering quality care. You will verify patient information, administer contrast per protocol, and collaborate with radiologists to produce accurate imaging and timely reports.

This full-time, on-site role offers 36 hours weekly with weekend shifts. A $15,000 commitment incentive is included, contingent on a three-year service agreement.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited program in Radiological Science.
• Registered with ARRT or NMTCB (CT) or registry eligible; must register within two years.

Responsibilities

• Identify and verify patient information and ensure safety and comfort.
• Perform CT scans according to protocols and adjust windows/levels as needed.
• Administer oral/IV contrast per protocol and monitor labs before injection.
• Transfer images to PACS/EMR (EPIC) and ensure accuracy of charges and demographics.
• Complete tasks timely, support workflow, and precept new staff and students.

Summary

Conducts procedures and tests using Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data.

Hours: Friday, Saturday, Sunday; 6:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Responsibilities

• Patient Identification – Uses professional manners and methods, verifies patient identification, obtains patient history, assists patients and family members that require extra attention, ensures patient understanding and safety. Verifies identification, asks and documents pregnancy status on patients of child‑bearing age.
• CT Scans – Obtains images according to protocols, manipulates images as required, performs multi‑planar and 3D reconstruction, demonstrates thorough knowledge of CT algorithms, selects appropriate window and level settings.
• Contrast – Administers oral contrast to adult and pediatric patients per protocol, establishes IV lines, administers IV contrast following safe injection procedures, checks lab values before injection.
• Image Transfer – Maintains understanding of PACS, transmits images to QC, UNCH’s EMR, EPIC and PACS, verifies and segments images at the QC station, accesses IMPAX tools, completes or cancels orders timely, ensures charge information accuracy, confirms patient identification and demographics per UNC policy.
• Other Duties – Performs tasks in a timely manner, runs the schedule to create workflow, volunteers for challenging tasks, new research, produces quality diagnostic images, reviews charts and reports for correlation, maintains a clean workspace, documents incidents for improvement, precepts new employees and students.

Incentive

This position qualifies for a $15,000 commitment incentive that will be paid over a three‑year work commitment.

Education Requirements

• Completion of an accredited program in Radiological Science, or enrollment within three months at time of application.

Licensure/Certification Requirements

• Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Sciences or certified with the NMTCB(CT) or registry eligible; if registry eligible, provide copy of diploma from accredited program.
• Successful candidates must become registered within two years of employment and maintain registry status and CE annually.
• All imaging specialists must maintain current competency in HCP BLS.

Professional Experience Requirements

• Prior education, training and experience that demonstrates ability to perform the assigned tasks.
