Major Responsibilities
- Performs Computed Tomography procedures utilizing General Electric Revolution, Lightspeed, Brightspeed, and HD750 Computerized Tomography Systems according to established operating procedures, clinical protocols, and imaging techniques.
- Performs computerized post-processing of images using reconstruction software appropriate to the pathology or region of interest under investigation.
- Addresses minor customer complaints. Tactfully resolves complaints; refers difficult complaints or sensitive issues to higher authority.
- Coordinates the scheduling of inpatients and outpatients to ensure efficient utilization of CT equipment and personnel.
- Performs Quality Assurance Tests on CT equipment to ensure optimal image quality and equipment performance.
- Maintains equipment safety by performing daily Tube Warm Up and Calibrations on CT scanners.
- Communicates equipment issues or concerns to appropriate personnel and/or ILinqs issues directly to GE service.
- Maintains appropriate cleanliness of diagnostic and support equipment.
- Obtains patient history and other relevant clinical information; documents all patient information on appropriate forms in preparation for review and dictation by a radiologist.
- Responsible for charging of patient examinations, and preparing images and clinical information for interpretation by a radiologist.
- Starts IVs using appropriate technique, prepares and administers contrast material, and monitors patient condition during the CT procedure.
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels of medical supplies.
- Initiates requests for emergency medical support as indicated by patient condition; this includes Code Blue, Respiratory Distress, etc.
Education/Experience Required
- 12-24 months experience in radiology
- Graduate of Radiologic Technology program
- 2 hours of stroke education/year
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Knowledge and understanding of cross-sectional anatomy and CT procedures
- Able to perform all routine CT procedures
- Good oral & written communication skills
- Computer competent
- ARRT Registry (RT), IDNS License, CPR, IV Certification within 3 months of hire, CT Registration within 1 year of hire
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
- Able to respond to work requests on short notice
- Flexible start times, may require rotating shifts and alternate days
- Exposed to infectious diseases
- Must take call and work overtime when requested
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds; patient handling equipment for heavier lifts
