The CT Technologist performs computerized axial tomography procedures utilizing various imaging equipment and contrast material. Prepares and administers contrast material based on Carle policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA);
- Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); or
- Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB); and
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA); and
- Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) within 1 year - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT);
Education: Associate's Degree; Certificate of Completion
Responsibilities
- Performs computerized axial tomography procedures and assigned invasive procedures by acquiring and processing patient exams in accordance with accrediting bodies and/or manufacturer guidelines and department protocols. Includes performing multiplanar reformats and/or 3D rendered images independently. Reviews cases with radiologists when appropriate. Reviews labs and patient history to perform correct exams. Recognizes and responds to adverse or allergic reactions. Screens patients for pregnancy and performs pregnancy testing if applicable. Ensures safety of patients, visitors, and environment. Reports safety events immediately, including near misses. Assists in instructing students and new staff. May perform duties of CT Lead or Imaging Coordinator in absence. Meets productivity levels as per department benchmarking. Assists other areas during downtimes. May perform duties of other modalities within the department, depending on licensure. Complies with cross-trained modality job descriptions. Performs procedures as outlined, reviews cases with radiologists, administers contrast, recognizes reactions, reviews orders, and ensures image quality. Transfers images to PACS, maintains equipment and work environment, reports malfunctions.
