Job summary

AdventHealth in Burleson, TX is seeking a CT technologist to perform high-quality CT exams, review patient history, and ensure safe, accurate imaging in a night-weekend shift. You will position patients, monitor contrast administration, and collaborate with radiologists within EMR/PACS systems.

The role requires ARRT CT, BLS CPR, 1+ year experience, strong communication, and a commitment to radiation safety.

Qualifications

  • ARRT CT certification, BLS CPR and state licensure required.
  • 1+ year of related radiology work experience required.
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills essential.
  • Adherence to radiation safety and ALARA principles.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality CT examinations per provider orders and protocols.
  • Review patient history to confirm exam appropriateness and safety.
  • Position patients, ensure comfort and radiation safety, monitor contrast reactions.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and care team for accurate imaging and continuity.
  • Document in EMR and PACS systems promptly and accurately.
  • Educate patients about exams and minimize table time.
  • Operate imaging equipment safely and adapt protocols for all ages.
  • Follow infection control and PPE guidelines.
  • Adhere to identification, consent, and time-out procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Description:
Shift: Thursdays - Sundays 9pm - 7am
  • Performs high-quality CT examinations in accordance with provider orders and departmental protocols, ensuring optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis.

  • Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications. Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.

  • Positions patients accurately and comfortably, using immobilization devices when necessary, while ensuring radiation safety and ALARA principles are maintained.

  • Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure appropriate imaging and continuity of patient care.

  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.

  • Educates patients about the exam and complete all exams in a timely manner, maintaining workflow and minimizing empty table time.

  • Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.

  • Practicing infection control standards and using approved PPE and disinfectant agents.

  • Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of patient positioning and equipment operations, including x-ray machines and printers [Required]
  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals [Required]
  • Ability to learn and use Radiology software packages, scanners and workstations, and EMR [Required]
  • Ability to quickly learn and follow departmental policies and procedures [Required]
  • Maintain all required registries and licenses to perform imaging procedures [Required]
  • Ability to follow basic radiation safety concepts of time, shielding and distance to keep exposure levels as low as reasonably achievable for patients and staff [Required]
  • Ability to complete exams in an acceptable time frame to meet ED/Observation TAT goals [Required]
  • Ability to assess, start and confirm appropriate placement of IVs for use in contrast studies [Required]
  • The ability to assess, explain and perform imaging studies on patients of all ages [Required]
  • Ability to learn and complete Reconstructions/Post processing [Required]
  • General computer skills and PACS [Preferred]
  • Basic IV competency [Preferred]
  • General physics and anatomy [Preferred]
  • Past Reconstruction/Post processing skills [Preferred]
  • Ability to learn and complete Cardiac CT [Preferred]
