Job Summary

Under supervision and following established procedures, operates CT equipment to acquire diagnostic images for physicians. Staff may float among various radiology clinics and divisions, including sites at 75 Francis Street Boston MA, 850 Boylston Street Chestnut Hill MA, and 20 Patriot Place Foxborough MA.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Operate CT equipment to obtain diagnostic images according to departmental protocols, ensuring patient preparation, positioning, and safety measures.
  2. Explain procedures to patients, maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct.
  3. Communicate effectively with hospital staff and maintain equipment calibration and functionality.
  4. Complete paperwork and manage radiology information systems for each patient exam.
  5. Perform venipuncture for contrast administration under radiologist supervision, following hospital policies.
  6. Participate in staff meetings, continuing education, and quality improvement projects.
  7. Oversee and instruct students and staff as needed.
  8. Prepare and stock equipment and supplies.
  9. Participate in research, quality assurance, and cost containment initiatives.
  10. Handle on-call duties and shift rotations, including off-site clinics.
  11. Transport and transfer patients safely.
  12. Perform point-of-care testing after training.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • Current Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist license and ARRT registration or equivalent.
  • Eligibility or certification in CT by ARRT or equivalent, with certification within one year of employment.
  • Preferred 2-3 years of radiologic technologist experience, including cross-sectional anatomy.
  • BLS certification required within one year of employment.

  • Analytical skills for imaging techniques and anatomy knowledge.
  • Adaptability to changing environments and pace.
  • Physical ability to lift and transfer patients and supplies.
  • Proficiency with digital imaging systems, hospital information systems, and PACS.
  • Awareness of safety hazards and adherence to safety standards.
  • Strong communication skills for conflict resolution and information relay.
Working Conditions

Includes patient care responsibilities, exposure to hazards, stressful situations, and physical demands such as lifting and transferring patients. Environmental factors include noise, cold, and poor lighting.
