Qualifications

Role Description

This full-time, on-site CT Technologist role is based at ST DAVID'S SOUTH AUSTIN MEDICAL CENTER in Austin, TX. The CT Technologist is responsible for performing CT imaging procedures according to physician orders and established protocols, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images. Day-to-day tasks include preparing patients for exams, explaining procedures, positioning patients, operating CT equipment, and monitoring patients during and after scans. The role also involves adhering to radiation safety guidelines, maintaining accurate documentation, collaborating with radiologists and other clinical staff, and supporting workflow efficiency within the imaging department. The CT Technologist is expected to uphold patient privacy, maintain equipment cleanliness and readiness, and contribute to a safe, respectful care environment.

Qualifications

• Certification and credentialing: Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography and CT (or eligibility and plan to obtain CT certification within a defined timeframe).


• Technical imaging skills: Proficiency in Radiologic Technology and CT-specific Radiology techniques, including patient positioning, image acquisition, and protocol optimization.


• Safety and compliance: Strong knowledge of Radiation Safety principles, dose optimization, and adherence to regulatory and hospital policies.


• Clinical knowledge: Foundational understanding of Medicine relevant to diagnostic imaging, anatomy, physiology, and common conditions assessed with CT.


• Additional qualifications: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program; current state licensure as required; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ability to lift, move, and position patients and equipment safely.


• Professional skills: Effective communication with patients and multidisciplinary teams, attention to detail, reliability in following protocols, and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical setting.


• Preferred experience: Prior CT Technologist experience in a hospital or acute care environment and familiarity with PACS and electronic health record systems.
