Job summary

Northern Dutchess Hospital, part of Nuvance Health, seeks a Radiologic Technologist with CT experience to perform exams, ensure high quality imaging, and maintain strict safety and documentation standards. You will work under licensed practitioners, handling contrast agents and operating modality-specific equipment.

Requirements include NYS registration and graduation from an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology program; ARRT CT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an AMA approved school of Radiological Technology.
  • NYS Registered Radiologic Technologist.
  • ARRT (R) CT certification preferred/required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs exams following modality specific protocols resulting in high quality images using appropriate imaging techniques.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of modality specific ancillary equipment including laser camera, fluoroscopic equipment, contrast injectors, QC phantoms, Gus cleaning units, CR readers PACS/RIS workstations, CAD workstations, dose calibrators, and flood sources.
  • Appropriate storage, handling and administration of modality specific contrast agents including barium, iodinated oral contrast, and intravenous contrast agents.
  • Maintains documentation and ensures accuracy of patient and procedural data such as patient history, exam title, demographics, laterality markers, and modality specific questionnaires and screening tools.
  • Prepares patient for procedure and provides instructions to obtain desired results; gain cooperation and minimize anxiety as per education standards.
  • Applies safety principles to minimize risks to patient and staff; adheres to ALARA, Image Gently, and MRI safety guidelines.
  • Conducts ongoing patient assessment and provides pre/post procedure education to ensure safety.
  • Assists in QA/QC procedures to ensure equipment operates within guidelines.
  • Ensures rooms are clean, stocked with supplies, and meet modality standards.
  • Participates in modality specific PI Plan and communicates with lead technologist and staff.

Job description

Provides health care services applying x-ray energy and computer processing techniques to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs computed tomography and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomic images for interpretation by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patients conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Population served based on scope of services in the department.

Responsibilities:

  2. Demonstrates working knowledge of any and all modality specific ancillary equipment such as laser camera, fluoroscopic equipment, contrast injectors, QC phantoms, Gus cleaning units, CR readers PAC's/RIS workstations, CAD workstations, dose calibrators, and flood sources.
  3. Appropriate storage, handling and administration of modality specific contrast agents including barium, iodinated oral contrast, and intravenous contrast agents.
  4. Maintains documentation and ensures accuracy of all pertinent patient and procedural data such as patient history, exam title, patient demographics, laterality markers, and modality specific questionnaires and screening tools.
  5. Prepares patient for procedure: providing instructions to obtain desired results. Gain cooperation and minimize anxiety as per patient education standards.
  6. Applies safety principles to minimize risks to patient, self, and others. Following establish standards such as Alara, Image Gently, and MRI safety.
  7. Conducts ongoing patient assessment including monitoring of the patient’s condition and assuming the responsibility for provision of physical or psychological needs during procedures ensuring patient safety. Provides pre and post procedure patient education.
  8. Assists as needed to perform modality specific QA/QC procedures ensuring equipment operates within manufacturers and regulatory guidelines.
  9. Assumes responsibility of assigned area assuring all rooms are clean, stocked with supplies, and meets the standards set by each modality.
  10. Participates in modality specific PI Plan.
  11. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department through communication either written or verbal with lead technologist training to equipment, patients and other staff members.
  12. Attends educational programs related to job responsibilities as required.
  13. Maintains all licenses and professional accreditation including society specific CME’s as required.
  14. Maintains and Models Nuvance Health Values.
  15. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
  16. Performs other duties as required.

Required:
  • Graduate from an A.M.A. approved school of Radiological Technology
  • NYS Registered Radiologic Technologist
Preferred:
  • 2 years CT experience
  • A.R.R.T. (R) required (CT)
