Job summary

Northeast Georgia Health System is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform CT and X-ray procedures under the direction of a Radiologist and Supervisor. The role involves independent judgment, use of contrast media, and care for patients from newborn to elderly at a facility with varying shifts.

Responsibilities include maintaining image quality, following safety protocols, and collaborating with Imaging nurses and staff.

Qualifications

  • Current ARRT licensure or certification required.
  • High School Diploma or GED; graduate of accredited ARRT program.
  • Preferred: minimum of two (2) years experience in radiology

Responsibilities

  • Operate CT and X-ray equipment per specifications, follow radiation safety practices and infection control.
  • Produce quality images within established protocols and maintain patient records.
  • Assist with patient prep, venipuncture, contrast administration and documentation.
  • Attend department meetings and participate in training of staff and students.
  • Support department operations and perform non-technical duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Under the direction of a Radiologist and Supervisor, performs CT and X-ray procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative to apply ionizing radiation for CT and X-ray diagnosis. Use of contrast agents and knowledge of proper technique for certain invasive procedures. Assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures required. The scope of care includes age groups ranging from newborn to elderly.

Essential Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Operate CT and X-ray equipment according to equipment specifications (i.e., operator’s console, work station, injector, reformatting, teleradiology). Adheres to infection control and safety practices. Follows good radiation safety practices; i.e. coning, shielding, film badge monitoring, according to state and federal guidelines. Produce quality images consistently within established protocols. Maintains processors, diagnosis processing problems and takes appropriate action. Maintains patient records according to department procedure. Knowledge of appropriate use of contrast media (venipuncture, injector, consent forms, type, quantity, complications). Properly assess patient according to exam ordered with appropriate documentation (i.e. check order, review previous films, check lab values when indicated, prep, screen for possible pregnancy, appropriate history, coordinate with Imaging nurse as appropriate). Provide patient education pertinent to exam being performed and document in patient record. Compliance in accurately and completely utilizing RIS according to department standards (i.e. order, arrive, start, complete, cancel, record complications, IV infiltrate documentation, drug history, repeats, complaints and transfers), CPAC procedures when indicated. Meets productivity standards defined by the department. Maintains a clean and organized work space.

  • Performs non-technical duties as assigned (i.e., stock rooms, transport patients, clean cassette.
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
