Job summary

Eisenhower Health is seeking a Radiologic Technologist specialized in CT to operate CT scanners and radiographic equipment, delivering high-quality diagnostic images. The role requires ARRT certification, California CRT license, and BLS, with fluoro preferred.

The analyst will ensure patient safety, perform imaging with ALARA, manage patient flow, and document procedures in PACS and charts, while assisting Radiologists as needed.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a Radiologic Technology Training Program approved by AMA or equivalent.
  • ARRT R.T. (R) certification; ARRT CT certification; California Radiologic Technologist (CRT); American Heart Association BLS.
  • Preferred: Fluoroscopy permit.
  • Experience as a Radiologic Technologist or CT Technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates CT scanners and other radiographic equipment to produce high quality diagnostic images.
  • Adheres to ALARA and Universal Precautions; protects patient and staff from radiation exposure.
  • Obtain medical history and prepare patient for exam; document changes in patient condition.
  • Prioritize stat procedures and manage patient flow; communicate with ED staff.
  • Perform procedures as ordered; assist Radiologist during procedures.
  • Document procedures in PACS and patient chart; maintain required forms and billing.
  • Maintain CT room cleanliness and restock supplies; assist with patient transport.

Licensure/Certification:

Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) R.T. (R) certification; ARRT CT certification; California Radiologic Technologist (CRT); American Heart Association BLS
Preferred: Fluoroscopy permit

Experience:

Preferred: Experience as a Radiologic Technologist or CT Technologist

Job Objective:

Operates CT scanners and other radiographic equipment to produce high quality diagnostic images.

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and reports suspected violations.
  • Follows ALARA guideline and uses Universal Precautions in all situations.
  • Utilizes proper radiation protection to protect patient and all persons present from excessive radiation.
  • Obtains appropriate medical history before patient examination and prepares patient for exam.
  • Documents any changes in patient condition using appropriate forms and contacting Radiology Registered Nurse (RN) or appropriate person when necessary.
  • Keeps patient informed of exam procedures, any delays, and allows patient to ask questions regarding the procedure.
  • Prioritizes stat procedures and organizes patient flow.
  • Communicates with Emergency Department physicians and staff on patient exams, delays, concerns and care.
  • Performs CT procedures of highest technical quality.
  • Performs appropriate procedures as ordered and assists Radiologist who is performing procedure.
  • Uses all CT equipment efficiently and reports all deficiencies to immediate supervisor.
  • Documents procedures in PACS and patient chart and utilizes required forms and billing procedures.
  • Prioritizes procedures and utilizes time wisely to complete daily workload within scheduled shift.
  • Assists in other areas of the CT department, as needed.
  • Works additional shifts and/or different shifts, as needed.
  • Maintains cleanliness of CT rooms and surrounding area.
  • Checks supplies and stocks CT rooms; reports any deficiencies.
  • Assists transport with moving patients to CT scan table.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
  • Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information
  • Proficient in the use of all CT equipment, scanners, injectors, and workstations
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected situations
