Description
General Summary of Duties

Responsible for performing high-quality CT imaging procedures using advanced technical knowledge while ensuring exceptional patient care across a wide range of patient acuity levels, from outpatient to critically ill. Performs diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with established protocols and safety standards. Demonstrates flexibility to float between imaging modalities as needed, with preferred experience or cross‑training in MRI. Maintains adaptability in scheduling, including variable shifts and participation in rotational on‑call coverage, to support departmental staffing and operational needs.

  • Advanced CT certification strongly preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of CT experience is required
  • BLS Certified
  • Possess a level of clinical expertise and competency in cross sectional anatomy
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and respond to critical situation
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all CT and diagnostic X‑ray procedures performed at the facility.
  • Maintain a safe CT suite environment for patients, visitors, and multidisciplinary staff.
  • Promote radiation safety by consistently applying the ALARA principle.
  • Review and evaluate imaging orders for clinical accuracy and appropriateness; assess patient condition and exam requirements in collaboration with the radiologist.
  • Adhere to departmental procedures, protocols, and policies; collaborate with radiologists and other employees to improve imaging protocols as needed.
  • Respond to standby call requirements by reporting onsite within 45 minutes when scheduled.
  • Recognize emergent or deteriorating patient conditions and take appropriate action in accordance with clinical protocols.
  • Assist with the safe transportation of patients to and from the Imaging Department.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sterile technique and maintain sterile fields when required.
  • Perform venipuncture and safely prepare and administer contrast media according to policy.
  • Coordinate transport and imaging of critical patients in collaboration with nursing and clinical staff.
  • Collaborate with Patient Services, anesthesia, and other departments to support patient care needs.
  • Assess patient condition and ensure patient safety through proper positioning and use of immobilization devices.
  • Accurately identify anatomical orientation, sequence images appropriately, and verify correct patient identification for imaging records and archiving.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and facility information in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Utilize hospital informatics systems, including RIS and PACS, to manage imaging data.
  • Accurately document patient information and imaging procedures in electronic systems.
  • Verify accurate charge capture for all imaging procedures performed.
  • Accurately transcribe physician orders and communicate promptly to resolve unclear or incorrect orders.
  • Identify and report safety hazards that may pose risk to patients, visitors, or staff.
  • Support departmental Quality Improvement initiatives by assisting in the identification of appropriate indicators.
  • Initiate occurrence reports and follow established procedures when issues or incidents are identified.
