Job summary

Singing River Health System Gulfport is seeking a CT technologist intern as a development position. The role includes completing a 4-month on-the-job training program under a preceptor, performing radiologic imaging to support diagnosis and treatment.

The intern will ensure accreditation and ARRT standards are met, maintain quality control, and support department operations under supervision. The shift pattern and duties align with hospital needs and SRHS policies.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalency required; must be graduate or currently enrolled in an accredited JRCERT program.
  • Must be enrolled in accredited JRCERT program or be registered by ARRT; CT registration preferred; maintain 24 ECE points in each two-year period as required by AART.

Responsibilities

  • Provide radiologic care and services by operating equipment to produce diagnostic images.
  • Ensure Radiology department meets accreditation standards and Singing River Health System objectives.
  • Maintain quality control of procedures and equipment; ensure adequate supply inventory and safety adherence.
  • Operate with attention to detail for extended periods; adhere to SRHS policies and guidelines.

Job Description Summary

Job Description Position Overview: The CT technologist Intern is a development position within the Singing River Health System. They are required to complete the internal 4-month on- the-job training program. The CT technologist Intern work under the supervision of the preceptor, physician, to provide radiologic care and services to patients by arranging and operating equipment in order to produce images of the human body for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders. The CT Technologist Intern ensures that the Radiology department meets current accreditation program and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists standards and achieves the Singing River Health System objectives. They operate equipment requiring detailed concentration for extended periods of time, stocks an adequate inventory of supplies at all times, and maintains quality control of procedures and quality assurance of equipment. Education

High School Diploma or equivalency. Must be a graduate or currently enrolled in an accredited JRCERT program.

License

Must be enrolled in an accredited JRCERT Program or must registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. CT Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists preferred. Must maintain a minimum of 24 ECE points in each two (2) year period as required by the AART in Radiology.

Certifications

Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. CT certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists within in 12 months of completing program.

Experience

Healthcare and /or radiology experience preferred.

Lead CT Technologist; Operations Manager

Physical Demands

Work is moderately active; involves sitting with frequent requirements to move about the office, move about the facility, and to travel to another facility within the SRHS service area. Work involves exerting a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Work involves using many physical motions in performing daily work activities; subject to exposure of body fluids, communicable diseases, CRT (computer) equipment, sputum and tissues, which may carry the hazard of infectious disease. Work involves using repetitive motions; substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and or fingers while operating standard office equipment such as computer keyboard. Work involves being able to perceive the nature of sound at normal speaking levels with or without correction; the ability to make fine discriminations in sound. Work requires close visual and acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, i. e. shift gaze from viewing a computer monitor to forms/printed material that are closer to compare data at close vision. Must be able to be active for extended periods without experiencing undue fatigue. Must be able to work schedules assigned with the understanding that changes are in accordance to the needs of the hospital for off days, shifts, or weekends.

Mental Demands

Must demonstrate keen mental faculties/assessment and decision making abilities. Must demonstrate superior communication/speaking/enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone. Must demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels. Must demonstrate ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in complex situations is required. Must have the ability to maintain collaborative and respectable working relationships throughout SRHS and other organizations

Special Demands

Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette. Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word. Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages.
