Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Collect patient medical information and review physician orders to identify reason for examination and potential contraindications.
- Explain procedure to patient and obtain consent.
- Position patient and administer oral, rectal or intravenous contrast; monitor reaction and respond to adverse reactions with emergency procedures as necessary.
- Select equipment parameters and log pertinent information.
- Perform scanning procedure and modify parameters to improve visualization of desired anatomy.
- Organize images, perform scan, and transfer exam data to PACS system.
- Aid transportation of patients to and from Emergency Room and inpatient areas.
- Ensure communication to radiologist regarding acute stroke patients and certify compliance with acute stroke protocols.
- Perform point‑of‑care iSTAT testing and screen for contrast contraindications.
- Enter patient charges into computer.
- Monitor equipment for functionality and performance; refer noted problems to the CT Supervisor.
- Assist in orienting and training personnel as necessary.
- Practice proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies; immediately report any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor issues.
Required
- Graduate of an ARRT or NMTCB accredited school.
- Registered CT Technologist with the ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT).
- Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred
- Prior training or experience in Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning.
- Ability to insert intravenous catheter.
