Job summary

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited school, certified as a CT Technologist, and holds a Basic Life Support certification. This position plays a critical role in the diagnostic procedures and requires excellent patient interaction skills and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ARRT or NMTCB accredited school.
• Registered CT Technologist with ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT).
• Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Position patients and administer contrast as required.
• Perform CT scans and modify parameters for optimal visualization.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Collects pertinent medical information and reviews physician’s order to identify reason for examination and potential contraindications.
• Explains procedure to patient and ensures consent form is signed if required for examination.
• Positions patient and administers oral, rectal, or intravenous contrast as required. Monitors patient reaction and responds to adverse reactions with emergency procedures as necessary.
• Selects equipment parameters and logs pertinent information.
• Performs scanning procedure. Modifies parameters as required to improve visualization of desired anatomy.
• Organizes images, performs the scan and transfers exam to PACS system.
• Aids with transportation of patients to and from Emergency Room and Inpatient areas.
• Responsible for ensuring communication to radiologist regarding Acute Stroke patients and certifying compliance with Acute Stroke protocols.
• Performs POC iSTAT testing and screens for contrast contraindications.
• Enters patient charges into computer.
• Monitors equipment for functionality and performance. Refers noted problems to the CT Supervisor.
• Assists in orienting and training personnel as necessary.
• Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor concerns.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an ARRT or NMTCB accredited school.
• Registered CT Technologist with the ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT).
• Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior training or experience in Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning.
• Ability to insert intravenous catheter.
