Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Florida seeks a Radiologic Technologist specialized in CT to prepare patients, operate CT scanners, and collaborate with radiologists. The role includes quality checks, cross-training, and training staff. A Florida radiography license and ARRT-CT certification are required, with a minimum of two years' CT experience.

Qualifications

• ARRT CT registered and Florida General Radiographer license required with BLS/CPR.
• Graduate of AMA accredited radiologic technology program or equivalent.
• Two years of clinical CT experience or ability to perform CT Angio, Enterography & Rectal Contrast exams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and assist radiologist during procedures.
• Verify orders and review patient records prior to imaging.
• Inspect films for quality and proper patient identifiers.
• Train new technologists and assistants as needed.
• Operate Siemens and GE CT scanners and perform 3D post-processing.
• Maintain room supplies and document exam data daily.

Position Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for examination, e.g.: positions, and executes specialty radiologic examinations. In addition, assists radiologist/physician in patient care during procedure.
• Reviews patient medical record(s) to verify physician’s order prior to examination.
• Cross trains in other specialty areas/departments/facilities when work load demands to enhance skills outside assigned specialty clinical area.
• Inspects films for quality, and monitors all films with respect to proper patient name, date and medical record number prior to interpretation by Radiologist.
• Assists with training of new technologists and technical assistants in all phases of assigned procedures, as requested by supervisor/manager/director.
• Demonstrates competency and observes safety guidelines when operating all specialized equipment in assigned clinical area.
• Implements Standard Precautions on all patients, as directed by hospital policy.
• Adjusts to variable schedules and/or procedure techniques that may be required at times.
• Adheres to MSMC established Personnel Radiation dosimeter Policy as observed by supervisor and as documented in department protocol.
• Reports all equipment malfunctions to lead tech/supervisor and clinical engineering immediately.
• Maintains and stocks room with proper supplies necessary to complete radiologic examinations.
• Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of computer programs, particularly the EPIC and SYNAPSE systems.
• Completes exam data entry on all studies performed on a daily basis, as well as any other necessary paperwork associated with each case.
• Attends monthly department staff meetings as scheduled.
• Proficient in 3D post-processing (Circle Of Willis, Aorta, Boney Extremities, Carotids).
• Proficient in Peripheral IV Catheter placement.
• Proficient in Performing & Documenting Phantom Quality Control on Siemens & GE Scanners.
• Proficient in operating Siemens & GE CT units.

Qualifications

License/Registration/Certification

• Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (CT) and hold a current Florida General Radiographer license from the Department of HRS, Radiation Control. BLS/CPR certification required.

Education

• Graduate of an AMA Accredited Educational Radiologic Technology Program for Radiologic Technology or equivalent.

Experience

• Two years of clinical experience and/or be able to perform CT Angio, Cystograms, Virtual Colonography, TAVR, Enterography & Rectal Contrast exams.
