Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida, Inc. in Key West is seeking an experienced CT Technologist II to support diagnostic imaging services. You will prepare patients, operate CT scanners, and collaborate with radiologists to perform advanced CT examinations with quality and safety in mind.

The ideal candidate has ARRT CT certification, Florida radiographer license, BLS/CPR, and at least 3 years of CT experience, including 3D post-processing. Training and supervision duties may be required.

Qualifications

  • ARRT CT certification and Florida radiographer license required.
  • BLS/CPR certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years of CT experience with proficiency in CT exams listed.
  • Experience with EPIC and SYNAPSE systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination and position for CT studies.
  • Assist radiologist/physician during procedures and review orders.
  • Perform and document imaging studies with quality control.
  • Cross-train in other imaging modalities as needed and train staff.
  • Operate CT equipment and ensure safety and dosimetry policies.
  • Maintain supplies, report equipment malfunctions, and enter data.
  • Attend department meetings and support workflow management.

Job Description Summary

Position Responsibilities Prepares patients for examination, e.g.: positions, and executes specialty radiologic examinations. In addition, assists radiologist/physician in patient care during procedure. Reviews patient medical record(s) to verify physician's order prior to examination. Cross trains in other specialty areas/departments/facilities when work load demands to enhance skills outside assigned specialty clinical area. Inspects films for quality, and monitors all films with respect to proper patient name, date and medical record number prior to interpretation by Radiologist. Assists with training of new technologists and technical assistants in all phases of assigned procedures, as requested by supervisor/manager/director. Demonstrates competency and observes safety guidelines when operating all specialized equipment in assigned clinical area. Implements Standard Precautions on all patients, as directed by hospital policy. Adjusts to variable schedules and/or procedure techniques that may be required at times. Adheres to MSMC established Personnel Radiation dosimeter Policy as observed by supervisor and as documented in department protocol. Reports all equipment malfunctions to lead tech/supervisor and clinical engineering immediately. Maintains and stocks room with proper supplies necessary to complete radiologic examinations. Demonstrates knowledge and proper use of computer programs, particularly the EPIC and SYNAPSE systems. Completes exam data entry on all studies performed on a daily basis, as well as any other necessary paperwork associated with each case. Attends monthly department staff meetings as scheduled.

  • Proficient in Coronary Angio, Cystogram, Virtual Colonography, TAVR, Enterography, Rectal Contrast.
  • Proficient in Peripheral IV Catheter placement.
  • Proficient in Performing & Documenting Phantom Quality Control on Siemens & GE Scanners.
  • Proficient in operating Siemens & GE CT units.
  • Proficient in 3D post-processing (Circle Of Willis, Aorta, Boney Extremities, Carotids, Cardiac).
  • Proficient in 3D imaging and post processing of Cardiac CTA studies.
  • Ability to set-up protocols for advanced exams with Radiologist.
  • Ability to serve as department lead, delegate tasks, and manage the work flow in Managers absence.
Qualifications

License/Registration/Certification Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) (CT) and hold a current Florida General Radiographer license from the Department of HRS, Radiation Control. BLS/CPR certification required.

Education Graduate of an AMA Accredited Educational Radiologic Technology Program for Radiologic Technology or equivalent.

Experience 3 years of clinical experience and/or be able to perform all CT exams listed for CT Tech II plus perform 3D post processing of specialty CT procedures.
