Job summary

Stamford Health is seeking a CT technologist to perform routine to complex CT procedures under radiologist supervision. You will work in ED, inpatient, and outpatient settings, ensuring patient safety and comfort while adhering to ALARA dose guidelines.

The role requires graduation from an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology Program, ARRT certification, CT licensure, CPR, and advanced CT certification. Typical shifts include four 10-hour shifts, 10p-8a (Sunday-Wednesday), with responsibilities

Qualifications

• Graduate from a formal Radiologic Technology Training Program approved by the AMA.
• Certified by ARRT.
• Licensed in CT radiology in CT as Radiologic Technologist.
• CPR certification and Advanced CT Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs quality assurance checks on CT equipment and procedure areas.
• Performs procedure audits for quality improvement analysis.
• Identifies and explains procedures to patients.
• Starts IV access and injects contrast media under physician direction.
• Prepares/positions patients for CT procedures.
• Instructs students and residents as needed.
• Ensures patient safety and comfort per ALARA guidelines.
• Maintains/assists with supply inventories and participates in service improvements.

Job Summary

The CT technologist is under the direct supervision of the Radiology Manager. Responsible for performing routine to complex CT procedures in accordance with established protocols under the direction/supervision of a radiologist. This included ED, inpatient, and outpatient environments.

Major Accountabilities/Critical Responsibilities

• Performs quality assurance checks on equipment and procedure areas
• Performs procedure audits for quality improvement analysis
• Properly identifies and explains procedure to patient
• Follows policy/procedures related to lab work and lines (central, peripheral)
• Starts IV access according to standard procedure and injects contrast media under the direction of a physician
• Prepares/positions patient for CT procedures
• Instructs students and residents and performs preceptor duties as needed
• Ensures proper safety standards are met
• Assists in maintaining supply inventory
• Participates in on-going service and process improvement efforts
• Responsible for patient safety and comfort while in CT. This includes adhering to the ALARA guidelines, established dose parameters within the machine, and other comforting measures as well as proper communication throughout the exam to ensure the customers’ needs are met. Any issues will be relayed to the chief technologist directly.

• Graduate from a formal Radiologic Technology Training Program approved by the American Medical Association
• Certified by American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT)
• Licensed in State of Connecticut as Radiological Technologist
• CPR certified
• Advanced CT Certification required
