Job summary

Aurora Health Care in Wisconsin is seeking a Casual CT Technologist to support New Berlin clinics. This first-shift opportunity runs 8:00am–4:30pm with a minimum commitment of two first-shift shifts per month, and no weekends, nights or holidays.

You will operate CT equipment, obtain patient histories, prepare contrast, position patients, post-process images, and maintain records. The role emphasizes safety, accuracy and teamwork across outpatient settings, with opportunities to precept students

Qualifications

  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin.
  • ARRT RT registration with CT registration within 18 months.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers certification within 6 months.
  • Advanced training beyond high school in Radiologic Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CT equipment to perform imaging procedures with accuracy.
  • Obtain patient history and verify orders for exam accuracy.
  • Position patient and adjust scanning factors to obtain quality images.
  • Administer contrast media under physician direction.
  • Post-process images and label with patient identifiers and study data.
  • Maintain records per regulations and document billing codes.
  • Identify equipment issues and perform QA checks and calibrations.

Are you looking for a flexible first-shift opportunity to supplement your current schedule? We’re seeking a Casual CT Technologist to support New Berlin 84th Street South an Layton Avenue Clinics

Position Highlights

This role is ideal for a CT technologist looking to maintain flexibility while picking up additional hours. You'll have the opportunity to work in diverse outpatient settings while providing high-quality imaging services and exceptional patient care.

Major Responsibilities
  • Competently operates CT equipment to perform basic to advanced diagnostic procedures. Must perform the following procedures if performed at assigned facility which include basic imaging processing, body, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, contrast, orthopedic, angiography, extremity and 3D reformatting including cardiac, vascular and neurological.
  • Obtains medical history from patients and compares requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
  • Positions patient and selects proper scanning factors, adjusts factors to attain the appropriate images, and provides radiation protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media under the direction of the physician, and assists in the proper scanning techniques. Provides measurements and additional slices for accurate interpretation.
  • Post-processes images as directed and accurately identifies and labels images identifying patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
  • Maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Identifies equipment performance issues and performs equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures. Reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff and evaluates new products and equipment.
  • Serves as a technical resource, role model and/or preceptor for students and staff. Acts as a resource to staff at own facility and throughout the system. Assists with accreditation efforts.
  • Performs various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required
  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin, and
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and
  • Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) needs to be obtained within 18 months, and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providerscertification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Education Required
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology.
Experience Required
  • No experience required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and radiation safety.
  • Competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to:
  • - lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
  • - lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
  • - carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
  • Must be able to:
  • - push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
  • - perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Must have clear speech, vision and hearing.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
