Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Massachusetts is seeking a CT technologist to perform CT scan examinations for inpatients and outpatients, gather clinical data, and ensure accurate records and billing. You will work under radiologist directions, with emphasis on contrast-enhanced imaging and patient safety.

Qualifications include graduation from an accredited radiologic program, ARRT or NMTCB certification for diagnostic CT, and MA licensure.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited radiological program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or NMTCB certified in diagnostic CT.
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CT scan examinations appropriate to the age of the patient in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, per department standards.
  • Gathers pertinent clinical data and maintains accurate patient records.
  • Completes all records, paperwork and billings promptly.
  • Positions and transfers patients and assists physicians with interventional exams.
  • QC on images and sends exams to PACS for physician review.
  • Maintain inventory and assist with purchase of supplies.
  • Assist with urgent exam requests and scheduling.
  • Perform CT exams using contrast media under Radiologist/ER Physician direction.
  • Establish IV access for contrast injection per policy.

Hiring Range: $32.76 - $58.96 Please note that the final offer may vary within this range based on a candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Schedule Details: Monday through Friday

Scheduled Hours: 8-4:30p

Shift: 3 - Night Shift, 8 Hours (United States of America)

Hours: 40

I. Major Responsibilities
  • Properly performs all CT scan examinations appropriate to the age of the patient in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, consistent with departmental and professional standards and protocols.
  • Gathers pertinent clinical data and maintains accurate patient records.
  • Accurately completes all records, paperwork and billings and submits promptly.
  • Positions and transfers patients appropriately and assists physicians with interventional exams.
  • Promptly and properly completes exams, performs QC on images and appropriately sends exams to PACS for the physicians to review.
  • Assists in maintaining an orderly inventory and in arranging the purchase of needed supplies.
  • Assists with other job-related duties including urgent exam requests and scheduling.
  • Under the direction of a Radiologist or Emergency Room Physician, performs CT exams using contrast media according to department policy and procedures.
  • Establishes IV access for contrast injection according to department policy and procedure.

II. Position Qualifications
License/Certification/Education
Required
  • Graduate of an accredited radiological program.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or NMTCB certified in diagnostic CT.
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting, collaborating with peers to product optimum results.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients and families.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
