Job description

Overview

Under general supervision of the Director or Diagnostic Imaging, this position is responsible for scanning and producing a variety of computerized tomography examinations for physician interpretation and diagnosis of injury and/or disease for all patient ages. The role involves assisting the radiologist with diagnostic and interventional procedures, delivering exceptional patient care, adhering to radiation standards, performing related clerical duties, and supporting other departments as needed.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Properly perform all CT scan examinations appropriate to the age of the patient in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, consistent with departmental and professional standards and protocols.
  2. Gather pertinent clinical data and maintain accurate patient records.
  3. Accurately complete all records, paperwork and billings and submit promptly.
  4. Position and transfer patients appropriately and assist physicians with interventional exams.
  5. Promptly and properly complete exams, perform QC on images and appropriately send exams to PACS for physicians to review.
  6. Assist in maintaining an orderly inventory and arranging the purchase of needed supplies.
  7. Assist with other job‑related duties including urgent exam requests and scheduling.
  8. Under the direction of a radiologist or emergency room physician, perform CT exams using contrast media according to department policy and procedures.
  9. Establish IV access for contrast injection according to department policy and procedure.

Position Qualifications
License/Certification/Education (Required)
  1. Graduate of an accredited radiological program.
  2. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or NMTCB certified in diagnostic CT.
  3. Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Experience/Skills (Required)
  1. Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced setting, collaborating with peers to achieve optimum results.
  2. Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients and families.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

Constantly: standing, walking, repetitive movements, working indoors, precise motor skills, hearing, vision, color vision, lifting 10–100 lbs, pushing 10–100 lbs. Frequently: sitting, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, reaching, grasping, high‑stress level, carrying 10–20 lbs, pulling 10–100 lbs. Occasionally: climbing, balancing, kneeling, heights. Never: crawling, working outdoors, temperature extremes.

Addendum for Milford Regional
Position Qualifications – License/Certification/Education (Required)
  1. AART certification in radiology or NMTCB in nuclear medicine required; RTR licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
  2. Must take the initial exam for the ARRT certification in CT scan within 6 months of completing the required competencies.
  3. Exam delays will be reviewed on a case‑by‑case basis.
  4. Must pass the ARRT CT certification exam within 12 months.
  5. BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
Experience/Skills (Required)
  1. Maintain all area‑specific CEUs for ARRT, DPH according to regulation.
